Free School Meals

There are some important changes to Free School Meals (FSM) starting from September 2026
 

What is changing?

• From September 2026, all families will need to meet the latest eligibility criteria to continue receiving FSM.
• The current protection that allowed some children to keep FSM even if circumstances changed will end in July 2026.
• More families will become eligible, as all households receiving Universal Credit can apply.

What you need to do

All families must apply or reapply to check if they are eligible.

The process is quick, simple, and confidential.

Even though your child receives meals funded by the Government or Mayor of London, applying still helps the school access extra funding to support them.
