Year 6

Welcome to Year 6, a year of leadership, reflection, and preparation for the exciting transition to secondary school. As the final year of primary school, Year 6 is a time for children to consolidate their learning, take on new responsibilities, and celebrate how far they’ve come.

In Year 6, children deepen their understanding across all areas of the curriculum, with a strong focus on developing independence, resilience, and readiness for the next stage of their education. We continue to build on key skills in reading, writing, and maths, while exploring rich and engaging topics in science, history, geography, art, and more.

This year includes the Key Stage 2 SATs, which take place in the summer term. These assessments help to show the progress your child has made, and we approach them in a calm, supportive way that helps children feel confident and well-prepared.

Year 6 is also a time for exciting opportunities, from residential trips and end-of-year productions to leadership roles and special responsibilities around the school. These experiences help children grow socially and emotionally, and create lasting memories.

We’re here to support your child every step of the way, and we value the strong partnership between home and school. This page will keep you updated with key learning, important dates, and ways you can support your child at home.

Let’s make Year 6 a truly memorable and successful year!
