Year 2

Welcome to Year 2, the final year of Key Stage 1 and an exciting time of learning, growing, and preparing for the next big step into Key Stage 2. This year is all about building confidence, deepening understanding, and encouraging independence in your child’s learning journey.

In Year 2, children continue to develop their skills in reading, writing, and maths, while exploring a wide range of topics across science, history, geography, art, and more. We encourage curiosity and creativity through engaging lessons, hands-on activities, and opportunities to explore the world around them.

This is also the year when children take part in the end-of-Key Stage 1 assessments (commonly known as SATs). These are carried out in a relaxed and supportive way, and we ensure that children feel confident and well-prepared without any pressure.

We place a strong emphasis on developing resilience, teamwork, and a love of learning. Our classroom is a warm and welcoming space where every child is encouraged to try their best, ask questions, and celebrate their achievements.

We value the partnership between home and school, and we’ll keep you updated with what we’re learning, key dates, and how you can support your child at home.

Let’s make Year 2 a memorable and successful year together!
