Dear Parents and Carers,

I am delighted to be able to write my first letter as Consultant Headteacher at St. George’s Cathedral Catholic Primary School. I will have the day to day responsibility of running the school alongside Sr. Anne-Marie Niblock (Headteacher at Notre Dame) as the Executive Headteacher.

Since my appointment I have had the opportunity to visit the school on several occasions and to meet with Mrs. Higgs, pupils and staff. I would like to say thank you to Mrs Higgs for her support in ensuring the transition was as smooth as possible.

My priority firstly is to ensure that St. George’s continues to aim to become an outstanding school. Not only do I want to get to know the pupils and staff this term but also the wider school community as I know how important working with parents is in order for children to find school a positive and rewarding experience.

You will find me committed to this school and the Catholic ethos which will continue to underpin all the work that we do here.

I am sure you will have noticed there has been a lot of building work going on over the summer holidays; a new reception office, parents room, replacement of old windows and improving the Early Years space.  This work is a direct result of funding requests that Mrs. Higgs and the Governors applied for and that Sr. Anne-Marie was able to act upon. This work is a long term project and will be continuing over the coming years.

I will be “on the gate” with Mr. Welsh over the coming weeks and look forward to getting to know you all. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any queries, concerns or there is anything I can do to help and support you with your child’s learning and school life.

Yours sincerely,

Ms. Janice Babb

The Northern half of Scandinavia which has really long winters, short days and long nights so lots of twinkly lights, candles and snuggly quilt time (the Danish call it ‘Hygge’-the joy of coziness!). An actor, a writer or a historian.

My regular spot at the staffroom table. Its where I catch up with my work ‘family’, laugh (lots), drink coffee (lots) and eat my lunch (quickly).
