What a wonderful world

This afternoon in RE we had a discussion around Louis Armstrong’s song we sang for assembly. We talked about why he wrote it, who he wrote it for and what the song means. Singing is a form of praising God just like in the psalms.

Next, we explored the school grounds for things that God created. Some of the children noticed some amazing things. As the wind brushed against us, one of the children said it was like God breathing. We admired the beautiful sky God created and wondered why he chose the colour blue.

Finally, we collected some of the wonderful things God created and sat in a circle to describe what we found.

‘I hear babies cry, I watch them grow, they’ll learn much more than I’ll ever know…’
Children today know far more than I knew when I was a boy. We didn’t have computers at home in those days, or playstations, or mobile phones. Some people didn’t have phones or TVs at all. It was much harder to travel to different countries. We had to write letters instead of emails, and they could take weeks to get to their destination!
I wonder what your children will know about that you can’t even imagine yet!

  7. God has been wonderful and its a beautiful thing to look around and admire His works it makes me wonder why He created all these things and gave them the names they bear.
The only way we can say thank you to God for all He had done , is doing and would do is to praise him endlessly just like the psalmist says.
When I was young my mum use to say when God is hungry the only thing he eats is praises because our prayers makes Him hungry. so she thought me to ask a little and praise him more. praising Him makes him stronger to answer our prayers. Its a good thing to admire God and praise him. I enjoyed Louis Armstrong’s song what a wonderful world.
