We will be studying the Romans in History this half-term.
The Romans came to Britain nearly 2000 years ago and changed our country. Even today, evidence of the Romans being here can be seen in the ruins of Roman buildings, forts, roads, and baths which can be found all over Britain. The Romans invaded other countries too. The Roman Empire covered much of Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East.
Here is a picture of a Roman soldier in his uniform. Read all the labels carefully and try to pronounce the words.
As part of our study of Romans, St Francis will be taking a trip to the British Museum on September 14th, 2016. We will be exploring the Roman galleries using clue cards, recipes and ancient pottery. Using this information, we will discover what the objects on display can tell us about food and eating habits in Britain 2,000 years ago.
Before your trip, research the question: Who were the Romans?
