The British Museum

Today, Year 5 visited the British Museum and were treated to what Room 25 had to offer about the continent of Africa.  The children were exposed to the diverse cultural life of Africa through everyday objects and unique works of art since ancient times.

This was a fantastic way to end the topic ‘The Kingdom of Benin’, which the children have been learning about.   They had a wonderful time exploring the exhibition, which is divided into seven separate yet inter-connected sections.  Their main focus was on figure sculpture, headrests and royal art of brass, of course including fine works from Benin.

Well done to both classes as they were great ambassadors for the school.  A teacher from Argentina was very impressed with how they were well behaved and interacted with one another.
