At St. George’s Cathedral Catholic Primary School we believe that learning a language enriches the curriculum, providing enjoyment and challenge for children, helping to create enthusiastic learners and to develop positive attitudes to language learning throughout life.

As the UK is becoming an increasingly multicultural society, we have a duty to provide our children with an understanding of other cultures and languages.

At St. George’s we teach French to the children in Yr 1 to Yr 6, using Rigolo to support this process. Rigolo is an interactive resource which supports with the pronunciation of words and helps support the teaching of grammar.

St. George’s also have a language for the half-term where children are taught basic greetings and phrases in this language while finding out about where this language is spoken.
